What’s Healesville’s best hidden treasure?
I can’t go past the wineries. With so many, there’s something to suit everyone and a visit to a local winery is a great way to experience the beautiful scenery of the area.
What’s your ideal day out in the Yarra Ranges?
I’d spend the day hopping from winery to winery, enjoying the many tastes and beautiful scenery of the area. I also enjoy going to B&Bs in the area – there are so many beautiful spots to enjoy.
What are the top five must-see attractions? There’s more than five! I think it depends on what individual tourists are interested in but the sanctuary is very popular. We also recommend a number of local wineries and restaurants, the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie, fruit-picking, the historic railway and bushwalking.
What is the best place for a coffee and a quick bite?
I’d say Innocent Bystander. You can get a coffee and a quick bite or you can do wine and cheese tasting. There’s also a beautiful backdrop, making it a beautiful place to stop and get something to eat.
Where’s the best location for a romantic dining experience?
I love Coombe – The Melba Estate. It’s on a really beautiful property and the food is amazing. There’s also a rich history in that Dame Nellie Melba used to live at Coombe Cottage. It always makes for a great day or night out.
What do you love about living in Healesville? There’s so many things. I love the feel of this place and I think it’s the people that really contribute to that. Everyone’s so friendly and you’re always running into people you know. I find that the people of Healesville are very welcoming to tourists as well, and always eager to help.
How would you describe Healesville?
A lovely town with a real focus on community. Scenically, it’s a beautiful spot with lots of vineyards to visit and of course the incredible wildlife all around. It’s a great spot to live or visit.
