Shed the winter blues at Shedfest

Discover the secrets of the shed.

Vineyards, restaurants, perhaps a cafe, a cellar door…visitors might find one or all these things when they visit the wineries of the Yarra Valley.

But they shouldn’t forget the sheds!

All wineries have sheds, usually housing crushers, barrels, tractors and other equipment vitally important to the production of fine wines, and on the second weekend in October each year those sheds shine as part of Shedfest.

The festival, now in its 16th year, was established to showcase the unique charm of family-owned wineries and vineyards in the Yarra Valley, and it does it with fun and style.

Growth and success of the Shedfest event has led to its expansion across the entire Yarra Valley with smaller wineries participating along the Warburton, Maroondah and Melba highways.

Twelve Yarra Valley wineries will open their sheds on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 October this year to house fabulous food, fine wine, live music and entertainment.

Those who like a festival where they can take it easy, taste local produce, experience the charm of small vineyards, be captivated by stunning views, chat to the owners and winemakers, tap your toes to some fine tunes, take croquet lessons, play lawn games and watch the kids have fun, all while sipping delightful wines…they’re going to love Shedfest Wine Festival.

Another great reason to enjoy Shedfest is a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Shedfest souvenir wine glass goes to a local community group, CFA or SES with more than $35,000 raised since 2009.

A $20 entry fee covers the souvenir glass, a voucher for one glass of wine and access and tastings at all participating wineries over the two days.

Shedfest is sponsored by Woori Yallock Bendigo Community Bank.
