IT IS the one morning of the year where it is acceptable to eat chocolate for breakfast and not feel guilty.
And as children around the region wake up on Easter morning to go searching for the eggs the Easter Bunny has left behind, the famous Annual Oakridge Egg Hunt is getting underway.
Oakridge general manager Danny Kane said the event has grown over the last four years from 40 to more than 200 children who participate.
“They all have such a blast – the first year we hosted the event it was extremely hot so they had to be quick before they all melted,” he said.
“Last year the Easter Bunny dropped 1400 eggs for the children to find.
“It’s a free event that Oakridge holds to give something back to our local community.”
Mr Kane said last year the venue completed its cellar door and restaurant so this year there is a big space to host the beloved egg hunt.
“You can tell the kids that have been doing it for a couple of years as they come prepared with baskets – the other children all seem to have very full jumpers,” he said.
“The bunny sneaks in around 1pm to hide all the eggs but word is he will have had a very busy evening the night before so sometimes we are not sure when he will arrive.”
Visitors can begin their Easter Sunday at Oakridge meeting their mini-pets at the venue’s petting zoo and stay for lunch to enjoy the latest additions to the autumn menu.
Parents will also be able to sample the current range of Oakridge, Over The Shoulder and 864 wines while the children visit the resident face painting fairy.
