ENJOYING a day in the Yarra Valley hopping from winery to winery is a must on your bucket list.
Whether it be to indulge in the world-class food which is available across the area or indulging in world-renowned wine, the question is – should visitors be their own tour guide or not?
There are plenty of trip planning apps and websites naming the top 10 places to visit but what about finding those extra special hidden delights that are scattered few and far between.
Yarra Valley Wine Tours general manager Brian Sultana said one of the biggest advantages of going with a tour company is that there isn’t the danger of drink driving.
“Here at Yarra Valley Wines we use local drivers who know the area really well so we know those small boutique wineries that the general traveller is not aware of,” he said.
Tours also come in all different shapes and sizes.
“We do private tours which is a great option to get your friends together and enjoy a day together or the public option allows you to meet other people in a really social setting,” Mr Sultana said.
But if the appeal of going it alone is what the heart desires, it’s best to grab a local and ask for those extra special places that only they know about.
So, to book a tour or do it yourself? Whatever the decision, it will still be a divine day.
