Yarra Valley Flight Training (YVFT) in Coldstream has been part of the magnificent Yarra Valley for many years and has now received certification under the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia’s (CASA) new flight training rules.
“CASA has been updating aviation regulations,” founder, MD and Chief Flying Instructor (CFI) of YVFT Bob Boyd said.
“In September 2014, licensing and flight training were added to the ever-growing suite of rules. Pilots and flight training organisations (were) given until 31 August 2018 to transition to the new rules.
“Flight crew licensing and flight training rules were previously in CAR 5 (Civil Aviation Regulation 5). The new licence rules are now in CASR (Civil Aviation Safety Regulation) part 61. The new flight training rules are now in CASR part 141 (and 142).”
Yarra Valley Flight Training has waited for the dust to settle allowing participants in the industry to gain some experience in the transition process before implementing our change.
“Ian Ryan of YVFT has diligently spent several months writing the new YVFT operations manual to comply with Part 141and our flight school has been granted its CASA Part 141 approval, enabling us to continue operating on a national aviation training level,” Mr Boyd said.
Recreational and private pilots’ licences, as well as aerobatics and formation flying qualifications, are the norm for the established flight school.
Scholarships are available from the Australian Women’s Pilots Association for both men and women, which can be accessed via YVFT.
“A great demand for pilot training in the Yarra Ranges adds to the myriad attractions and activities on offer in this picturesque region,” Mr Boyd said.
The remarkable team at Yarra Valley Flight Training (YVFT) is passionate about flying and teaching their pupils to become competent flyers.
