A CASUAL environment with breathtaking views is just a taste of the many tantalising features at Yarra Glen’s Zonzo restaurant.
The restaurant, which opened six years ago in a converted milking shed, is set on 45 acres in the Train Trak Vineyard, just three kilometres from Yarra Glen’s main street.
Boasting spacious lawns for children to play, and for adults to relax on, the key attraction to the restaurant is its emphasis on the Italian custom of the ‘shared table’.
The shared table custom features food placed in the centre of the table, allowing friends and family to enjoy a more casual experience with their meal.
Chef and owner at Zonzo Roderick Micallef said that Zonzo had dedicated its venue to cater for both small and large groups.
“Our approach is to offer a casual environment with a passion for food and service,” he said.
“We have found the right blend of family entertainment with the menu.”
The restaurant is highly acclaimed, being featured in this year’s edition of The Age’s Good Food Guide and scooping consecutive awards for the best Restaurant Reception as part of the Bridal Industry Awards – in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Zonzo can host private functions, catering for up to 120 sit-down guests or 150 in a cocktail-style function, and can also host weddings and ceremonies.
Offering food for special needs, such as gluten-free, lactose-free, vegans and vegetarians, there is something for everyone at the restaurant.
Zonzo is located at 957 Healesville-Yarra Glen Road in Yarra Glen and is open for lunch on Wednesdays and Thursdays and lunch and dinner on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
