In the evenings, deer and kangaroo’s graze in the gardens wandering up from the adjacent Dandenong Ranges National Park.
The Loft in the Mill was built 24 years ago out of 150-year-old convict cut bluestone and is a replica 19th century stagecoach stop with each stone individually cut to fit its space and carefully tapped into place.
As the mortar between the stones was setting, stone masons ranked and brushed to create the professional stonework that is on show today.
The solid masonry structures of the buildings with the de-constructed walls are a signature of the property and create individuality that provides uniqueness in each room through size and décor.
In 2007 the property changed hands and underwent four years of renovations, room by room, to ensure the elegance and distinctiveness of each room was maintained.
The Loft in The Mill has been the recipient of many awards including the Victorian Tourism Award for Best Hosted Accommodation Venue and continues to wow guests.
