LOCATED on the fringe of town, Healesville Glass Blowing Studio has a range of unique items to behold, and even the opportunity for visitors to try their hand at the art.
The studio, which is at 416-420 Maroondah Highway, hosts award-winning and internationally renowned artists Tim Bassett and Tali Dalton.
Working in view of studio visitors the pair create glass art which includes sculptures, chandeliers, custom-lighting, functional items and even jewellery.
Ms Dalton said that the on-site gallery features many of the duo’s creations, which include vases, all the way up to glass pumpkins and mushrooms, with incredible levels of detail.
“The chandelier showroom is pretty impressive,” she said.
“People can see glass being made and see the different types of work that can be made.”
She said that visitors are welcome to try their hand at the ancient art of glass blowing with a $50 class on making a paperweight in which participants can keep their creation.
Also on offer at the studio is a full weekend class with the artists during which participants make about six glass pieces while learning the practice, which costs $590.
For those feeling less adventurous, already-made pieces by Ms Dalton and Mr Bassett are on sale in the gallery and the pair take commissions for specially-made pieces.
Both artists have works featured extensively in private collections around the world with Ms Dalton’s pieces featured in Sir Elton John’s personal collection and both artists’ work has been acquired by the Australian National Art Glass Collection.
