IN THE sublime settings of the Yarra Ranges’ best performance spaces, Classical Tracks 2014 brings together a collection of superb classical music shows.
With the bitterly cold winter days upon us, the Yarra Ranges Fine Music Program for winter, as part of the Cultural Tracks Program, brings together some of the best classical music in Australia.
Each Sunday afternoon throughout the season some of the best known classical ensembles and performers from around Australia will be showing off their talents including the Melbourne Guitar Quartet, Australian Octet, ACO Virtual and the Nicolas Chamber Orchestra.
One performer who opened the Culture Tracks Program earlier this year was Bach by Candlelight performer Chris Howlett who gave attendees a taste of what the program has to offer.
Howlett’s candle-lit, wintry night performances of this concert in Europe was met with incredible responses and offers audience members here in Australia a unique experience that verges on surreal.
With just Howlett, his cello, music and light, the depth and elegance of the music is brought into sharp relief.
The all-encompassing Classical Tracks program features 13 special performances across six venues – Burrinja Cultural Centre, The Memo, Montrose Town Centre, Mooroolbark Community Centre, the Arts Centre and Yarra Ranges Regional Museum.
There is something for everyone, whatever their taste in classical music.
The Classical Tracks Season commences on Sunday 1 June and runs through to Sunday 14 September.
