WINTER in the Yarra Valley can get cold and it can get rainy.
Those looking to escape the harsh winds can make their way to Tokar Estate Winery and Restaurant to warm their bellies and tantalise their tastebuds.
The restaurant, which is located on Maddens Lane in Coldstream, offers a range of specialty foods from Spain, Italy and France matched with the estate’s own wines to make a perfect combination.
General manager Rita Tokar said the winter menu at the restaurant will be an absolute contrast to the Yarra Valley’s typically dreary season’s weather and will warm up those who come to visit.
“The warming aspect of the winter menu will not only tantalise the palate but will take you on a culinary journey throughout the Mediterranean,” she said.
Ms Tokar said that between the magnificent views at the estate, which feature vineyards and rolling hills and the delightful food on offer, the restaurant has something for everyone to enjoy.
“With this view and the elegant ambiance of the restaurant, it is the ideal place to enjoy a leisurely lunch with family and friends or that romantic dinner for two,” she said.
“Under the watchful eye of head chef Neil Howatt and his vibrant team, the winter menu at Tokar Estate will be anything but bleak.”
The highlight of the winter months at Tokar Estate will be the restaurant’s annual Spanish Night which features dishes from different regions of Spain, Spanish flamenco dancers and musicians, and the release of the estate’s new Tempranillo range of wine.
The Spanish Night will be held on the last Saturday of winter – 30 August – and budding diners are urged to book early for the extravaganza.
Tokar Estate Winery and Restaurant is located at 6 Maddens Lane, Coldstream.
