Cafe culture and great rides. 146849_02

HEALESVILLE township is the epicentre of cafe culture in the Yarra Valley, and as the half-way mark along the Maroondah Highway between Lilydale and the Marysville Triangle towns of Narbethong, Marysville and Buxton, it’s the perfect spot to ‘fuel up’ with a coffee break.
You will find the valley’s two working dairies and many of the big name wineries along the stretch between Coldstream and Healesville and, of course, the premier tourist drawcard to the valley, Healesville Sanctuary is just a short jaunt off the beaten track at Badger Creek.
If you’re planning a longer stay in Healesville, be sure to check out what’s on in film, live music or theatre at The Memo and allow an hour or two for some main street shopping.
Maroondah Dam and Fernshaw Reserve are great places to enjoy a picnic or barbecue and some fun with the kids as you make your way through the picturesque Black Spur, and note Gallipoli Park in Marysville as another park with lots on offer for the family.
Australia Day in Marysville is a huge day of celebration, so work your dates around 26 January in Marysville if you have the option.
The Maroondah Highway over the Black Spur is also recognised as one of the most popular motor bike rides – keep to the 80km limit for a safe, inexpensive ride! Discover more Maroondah ideas at visityarravalley.com.au .
