The Yarra Valley: the premier tourist destination in Victoria is known for its fresh produce, delicious wine and breathtaking natural attractions.
In addition, the town’s year-round events draw hundreds of visitors each year.
One of those unique and memorable events is the Wandin-Silvan Field Days, which is held over two days in October and features more than 200 presenters.
The event has exhibitors showcasing the latest in horticultural, agricultural and farming equipment and industry practices and the popular agricultural show includes open stalls which feature livestock.
Visitors can explore the exhibition’s other stores and stalls showcasing art and crafts, clothing, fragrance products, confectionery and toys – all perfect for a family outing.
A true traditional Australian show, the Wandin-Silvan Field Days originated from Elmore in 1964 and today the event is held over several locations in the Yarra Valley with thousands of visitors each year.
The event’s wide arena includes an impressive range of agricultural displays and exhibits which is why many farmers and agricultural employees consider this the pre-eminent farming festival.
Visitors can interact with the farmers and learn about the machinery and agricultural practices used today and the event also offers some informative and educational seminars that provide useful information about the new technologies ranging from farm machinery, light industrial equipment, motor vehicles and motor bikes, irrigation equipment and water tanks, to information on the latest pest and weed control, fertilisers and chemicals.
The 2018 Wandin Silvan Field Days will be held on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 October at the Wandin East Recreation Reserve.
The entrance fee for 2018 (which benefits local CFA Brigades) is $15 per person and children aged under 15 years enter free of charge.
EFTPOS facilities are available at the entry gate and an on-site mobile ATM is also available.
