PELLEGRINO’S Fresh Fruits has more than 40 years’ history in the Dandenong Ranges, supplying locally grown produce, meats and groceries out of Olinda, Upper Ferntree Gully and Wantirna South for decades.
Paul Pellegrino said that he and his father Tony Pellegrino opened their Olinda store eight years ago but that his grandfather had operated a successful fruit shop in Belgrave in 1960, with Tony running a shop in town not long after.
Mr Pellegrino said that Tony has also run a stand at the Upper Ferntree Gully Market for more than 40 years, and that the two Pellegrino’s stores have supplied cafes, restaurant, hospitals and nursing homes in the area for more than 50 years.
The store’s website boasts that no order is too big or small for the staff to handle, and Pellegrino’s stocks everything a visitor or resident might need for a feast – or for the home – including fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables, as well as firewood, potting mix and groceries.
Cheese lovers are well catered for with more than 60 varieties stocked in the store and gardeners can pick up chicken and sheep manure for fertiliser.
The business has glowing reviews from visitors, with Facebook users praising the friendly and personal attitudes of the staff, and the quality of the fresh produce provided.
Pellegrino’s Fresh Fruits can be found at 8 Sunset Avenue, Olinda, from Wednesday-Sunday 9am-5pm; 1151 High Street Road, Wantirna South, from Tuesday-Sunday 7am-7pm; and the Railway Car Park at Upper Ferntree Gully station from 8am every Saturday.
